PACT transport special permits
The relevant permit depends on the batteries, packing configuration, and transport route. These permits name Packaging and Crating Technologies, LLC (PACT) and cover specific packaging systems.

Undamaged waste batteries
For end-of-life waste lithium batteries that are not damaged or defective, using the prescribed Thermo Shield system with UN 4D or UN 4G packaging. The linked permit copy allows transport by motor vehicle and rail freight. First revision, issued January 2, 2025. Printed expiration: November 30, 2028.

Damaged, defective, or recalled batteries
For known or suspected damaged, defective, or recalled lithium-ion cells and batteries, using the prescribed lined UN 4G packaging systems. Packing, battery-rating, and route conditions apply to the specific configuration. Eighth revision, issued June 1, 2026. Printed expiration: April 30, 2030.

Neither supplied permit authorizes air shipment. These permits do not establish approval for routine outbound shipments of new batteries. Ask FPS to review the documentation and configuration relevant to your request.

Coating data sheets and certifications
Coating ratings apply to the listed product, substrate, and test. These coatings are intended to slow fire spread.
