PACT Thermo Shield and TR Sleeve

Thermo Shield is a lightweight pleated paper material with a non-toxic moisture vapor application. It can contain a lithium battery fire within specified corrugated containers for land, sea and air shipments. The technology is patented.

In our testing it suppresses thermal runaway and propagation at temperatures up to 800°C while restricting the temperature outside the wrap to 60°C. It actively and automatically cools the internal environment of the package and limits the oxygen supply around the payload.

Advantages: no damage to the outside box or UN shipper, no escaped fumes or gases, and no change in oxygen level. The wrap is lightweight, reusable and 100% recyclable, and it is cost-efficient both at purchase and in use.

TR Sleeve is a patented, recyclable paper wrap. Each lithium-ion cell is individually wrapped in Thermo Shield paper to stop thermal runaway from spreading between cells in electric vehicles, battery packs and renewable energy storage systems.

It prevents thermal runaway propagation, mitigates thermal energy release, and is capable of containing thermal events that heat up to 750°C. It adds only about 0.009 inches to each cell's diameter and removes the need for potting materials and separators. Cells can be tightly pressed or stacked, which supports high energy density.

Virtually zero hydrogen and methane is produced. TR Sleeve is reusable, biodegradable and recyclable. Applications include electric vehicles, e-buses, e-scooters, e-bikes, laptops, smartphones, tablets, handheld games and battery packs.

Countless tests conducted by independent labs showed no damage to the outside container, no escaped toxic fumes or gases and no change in oxygen level. TR Sleeve has passed the proposed SAE G-27 test standard, holds a US DOT special permit for shipping lithium-ion batteries, is a preferred product for the US Department of Defense, and is endorsed by the Commercial Relocation Network, the Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Materials and the International Association of Movers.
